Wake PTA Council is committed to promoting equity within and among Wake County PTAs. Our grant program is meant to foster community engagement, to support innovative community building, or to broaden inclusion.
We recognize that many units struggle to grow membership and raise funds for programs. We have committed a significant portion of our budget to assisting these units. Grants may be awarded UP TO $1000. The final amount is determined by the Wake County PTA Grant committee.
Please complete this form and submit supporting documentation to be considered for a grant.
You can apply for a grant in one of these categories:
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Family Engagement
One of our goals for the 2025-26 school year is to create more equity between PTA units in Wake County. We have some units with little to no funding, and other units with generous funds.
If your PTA is interested in helping a struggling PTA with family engagement events or DEI work, consider donating to the Wake County PTA Council’s grant program. This is another great way to help all our students in the community. If you are interested, contact our Treasurer Elizabeth Skibbe at treasurer@wakepta.org.
When applying, please note the following:
Your PTA unit must be in compliance to receive a grant.
A PTA can receive only ONE grant per school calendar year.
Grants are for one year only. Funding for a project or program for subsequent units will be determined by your PTA unit. Consider developing relationships with the community (churches, local non-profts, businesses) to support future efforts.
You will need to provide a copy of your approved PTA budget for the 2025-26 school year.
Priority will be given to Title I schools and schools with lower budgets.
Innovative ideas are also encouraged. We want to sponsor new programs at your schools or if you are asking for funds for an existing program, how will the grant money help you achieve MORE this year.
In your application, BE SPECIFIC about how the money will be spent. For example, it is not enough to say that you will use the money for your school's STEM night. What materials will you be purchasing for the event?
No more than $150 of the grant can be used to provide funding for snacks/food/beverages for a PTA event.
Units will need to purchase items and request reimbursement from Wake PTA. Checks will be written to PTAs, not individuals.
Grant reimbursements will be disbursed for purchases made AFTER the grant is awarded. (You will not be reimbursed for items that you purchased BEFORE the grant was reviewed and approved.) The approval of the grant is subject to the review of the Grant committee.
Approval of the grant does not roll over to the next year. If you do not submit for reimbursement, you will have to apply for a new grant next year.
Your unit will need to provide a summary explaining how the funds were used and any measurable results. We want to share your great work with other units in the county!
