April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

4/7/2016

The YMCA of the Triangle partners with Darkness to Light to offer free Stewards of Children training that gives adults the tools they need to prevent, recognize and react responsibility to child sexual abuse.

PTAs can register for the classes, host a training, and/or invite YMCA Director of Child Safety to hold a Prevent Now! Workshop for your meeting.

Pinwheels for Prevention gardens will be springing up in Y locations. This effort demonstrates the importance of showing support for children and families. Shining in the sun, the pinwheel is reflective of the bright future all children deserve.

The YMCA of the Triangle is a sponsor of the Pinwheels for Prevention Family Fun Day on April 17 from Noon to 6 p.m. at Wheels Fun Park in Durham. A limited number of bands that allow free entry into the afternoon of games and skating are available for volunteers who plant a pinwheel garden or sign up for the training.
